Satire On Occupation Of Land ( Iqbal's Zarifana )

                             Satire On Occupation Of Land
                              Iqbal ( 1877 – 1938 )’s Zarifana

One day a dispute arose between a peasant and a landlord,
Both of them were claiming ownership of the land,

One said, “One who cultivates is the owner of the land”,
The other said, :” Thy thinking is not right’,

I asked the earth whose property thou art,
It said that it belived in the statement,

Whether landlord or peasant, both are mentally disturbed,
Whatever is under the heavens belongs to the earth,
